2 Branding Trends from Politics
Yes, our election season here in the U.S. has changed the game on how we communicate and interact in the marketplace of ideas. According to this Fast Company article of big brand leaders, stuff is about to get real.
Move past the designer angle in the article. We can take advantage of these trends, too. Predictions that most impact us:
• Brand-led activism. Yep, you’ll hear this buzzword a lot. Taking a stand on complex issues is fair game. Your best next step: Stake out your role. Do you want to be a provocateur? The voice of reason? Now is the time to establish your voice. Apply consistently.
Listen: How to take a stand without pissing off both sides
• Get real. The pushback on alternative facts and fake news has set the bar high for other messages. Hype is no longer tolerated. Your best next step: Simplify your message. Ask yourself: what is the truth of this situation? And go there. Be prepared to back up any claim.
Trends and strategies are not created in a vacuum. They are born out of our environment. And this point in our history has many more changes in store.

Point, stand, dial back. Sound reasonable or you won't be credible. Find the hinge points. What changes everything? Add nuance. Man, that's GOOD Vicki!!
