2 Reasons Why Great Marketing Plans Fail
You’ve hired the best folks. They’ve invested time getting to know your goals and gifts. That marketing plan looks like a masterpiece made just for you. It’s done!
And … it doesn’t work. No leads, no opportunities (except for folks asking for free help). Something’s wrong, and you can’t put your finger on it.
I see this a lot. The problem: Most plans are a sad combination of common marketing tactics and wishful thinking. Here are two reasons why marketing plans that look good on paper usually fail:
• Tactics are not aligned for easy implementation. Too many of us look at wildly successful people and say, “I’ll copy their roadmap.” The problem: If your gifts are not the same, you’ve signed up for a tough journey ahead.

• Marketplace dynamics aren’t included in the plan. The assumption: If we implement correctly, the market will respond. This is a myth. If you don’t stand out, it doesn’t matter what tactics you use.
In crazy-crowded markets where everyone is using the same tactics to get out there, strategy wins.
