2 Ways to Ensure LinkedIn Followers See Your Posts
You’ve probably noticed your LinkedIn posts aren’t getting the same impressions and views as they had been receiving. That’s because the platform made some significant changes to its algorithms.
As Entrepreneur pointed out in a recent article, personal posts that became popular during the pandemic now reach fewer people. Meanwhile, “knowledge and advice” posts get more attention. That’s understandable. LinkedIn doesn’t want to be the business version of Facebook.
What’s interesting is how the social media platform evaluates posts. According to the interview, “productive and more successful” is the overall goal. The criteria used to get there provide a clear roadmap.
2 Tips for Posting on LinkedIn
Given the metrics shared in the article, here are two approaches thought leaders should consider when posting to LinkedIn:
• Get specific: LinkedIn now looks at relevancy to a specific audience. Now is not the time to post broad ideas that appeal to the workforce at large. Instead, use content to cement your reputation in key market segments.
• Stay in your lane: A lot of us use content marketing to broaden our value to adjacent areas. Now that the social media platform uses our professional profile to determine our authority on a subject, this doesn’t look like a good idea.
LinkedIn, like other social media platforms, is trying to stand out in a crowded social media market. In doing so, it now evaluates us (and the comments our posts get) based on the value we give. It’s quality over quantity. Let’s bring our A game.
