Using Social Media to Increase Web Traffic
Many of us would love more traffic to our sites. And many of us use social media to get our perspective out there. A recent article from Social Media Examiner (7 Ways to Improve Your Search Rank With Social Media) links the two with practical tips even I can do—I think.
What pinged my radar:
• Google uses size of following as a measure of authenticity. Their thinking: phony clickbait does create community.
Listen: The one social media recommendation that will hurt you
• Use action verbs to increase, well, action. Words like “check out” and “click over to” are directive. (And I was worried about being bossy.)
The big aha here is we need to get strategic about our content. We need to go beyond appealing to our current audience towards being found by like-minded strangers. And I thought Facebook was here for cute kitten videos.
