Industry media is kicking off the new year with plenty of trends reports. Because many of us speak at association events, let’s drill down on recent findings published by Associations Now about hybrid meetings.

Let’s move past the blinding flashes of the obvious. Hybrid meetings are here to stay. We need to pay attention to buyers’ expectations and how they use them to select speakers.

Buyers believe they have two sets of attendees—in person and virtual—and they require speakers to use a different skill set for the virtual audience. Big question now: How do you convince buyers that you can reach both groups?

One way is to list all the virtual presentations you’ve done and the rave reviews you’ve received. Keep in mind, though, that everyone will do that. One way to stand out is to highlight your approach. Use the list as a “yeah, I’ve done that” opener, then talk shop about what will work based on that experience.
