Big Dawg Social Media Trends
I am always fascinated by how big companies play in our shared spaces. A very telling study by TechnoratiMedia pulls back the curtain on what big brands are focused on in social media.
The bottom line: these 500-lb gorillas are in the house. A majority (65%) of brand marketers predict sharp increases in spending here — up 40% for ‘social spend’. Where’s the money going? Over half to Facebook. Only eleven percent to the most trustworthy sources — bloggers and “influencers”.
So why the disconnect? Many reasons; too many to list here. But I do think there are opportunities for thought leaders to get a piece of this ever-growing pie. Again, think partnerships. Prediction: I think this kind of sponsorship will soon surpass the old “speaking tour” deal.
