Competition is Everywhere

Got into a silly conversation on LinkedIn about a particular group who supplied leads to thought leaders.  The big question:  are the leads worth the investment?  The responses were very enlightening about how we define value.

I’m paraphrasing this pearl of wisdom:  “hey, if there’s too much competition, then the leads are useless. Therefore, the service itself is useless.”  About fell over in my chair.

Folks, competition is everywhere.  If we can’t compete when the buyer has a lot of options, it’s our fault, not the lead generators (and certainly not the buyers).  Instead of throwing in the towel and blaming the marketplace (or the people who help us), let’s up our game.

And remember this:  There’s no such thing as competition when you are one-of-a-kind.
