I posted earlier this month about how personal branding and influence will be considered a standard career-building trait in the future job market. Just when you thought it was safe, here’s another article from Biz Women about Amazon Prime that is disrupting our content marketing efforts. Are we having fun yet?

Yes, Amazon is retail’s 800-pound gorilla, and the content involved is games, music and movies. Move past the research about Prime members, though, and check out the market strategy: Throw huge amounts of content in as a loss leader to move more unrelatedproducts and services. Still think this won’t impact us down the line?

Ask yourself these big questions:

  • What happens to the value of content when it becomes a loss leader for big companies?
  • How does that change the expectations of us thought leaders in smaller private firms?
