Have you ever jumped in with advice? Yep, I’m guilty as charged. That’s why this Fast Company article motivates me to shut up for a second.
Let’s put on a wide-angle lens and look past personal conversations. Not drilling down on context is the #1 reason why thought leaders fall short. When you assume situations are similar to yours, you can be easily branded as “a hammer looking for a nail.” (Consultants, I’m looking at you.)

This concept also applies to content marketing. If you want to show how your perspective is valuable in a variety of scenarios, be sure to vary your solutions. This tactic will broaden your appeal. Otherwise you’ll appear as a “one-hit wonder.”
