A great bird’s-eye view is the graphic on page 4. Of the ten trends they predict, this chart shows the gap between importance and readiness. In other words, this is a list of what larger organizations know they need and their assessment of those goals. Every single item has a gap of no less than 19 points. Unbelievable.
The biggest gap at a whopping 36 points is leadership. Tying 2nd place with a 31-point gap is culture and engagement. If you want to know why so many B2B firms are in those areas…this is a clue.
But don’t think that consultants are the only answer here. The techies are jumping in as well with their solutions. These buyers will quickly disregard anything that doesn’t represent a new solution. They are looking to upend old models.
These are the crowded marketplaces where strategy is the difference between those on the fast track and those who get ignored. Your next best step: drill down on this report and ask yourself where you can stake your claim. What territory can you dominate? You don’t have to be a large firm to compete. You have to have a strategic approach that buyers can embrace.
