Great Technique to Make Your Explainer Content Stand Out
I swear—this is the last TED talk post. But I just can’t get virtual reality scientist Jaron Lanier’s talk on social networks and behavior modification out of my mind.
First off, this guy makes clear that he knows where the bodies are buried. Here’s how: by identifying and explaining the first mistake was made. (About five minutes in I totally understood that Google and Facebook were good at two things: spying and behavior modification.)
I call this the “original sin” technique. Here’s how it works: Talk about the one thing (decision, trend, whatever) that changed everything. Then discuss the ripple effect. Then … drum roll please … we’re ready for your new solution.

This technique isn’t used enough and can make any “explainer” content (video, podcasts, etc.) stand out in a crowd. It’s a great springboard for your innovative solutions.
