Heads Up: Great Opportunity Ahead
Attention thought leaders with corporate clients: need to build a business case? Look no further than SHRM’s 2015 Employee Recognition Report.
Don’t let the title fool you: the findings here go beyond the impact of recognition programs. Check out what HR (Human Resources) is working on, and you’ll find the budget for your expertise. (Yes, your clients are the execs, but let’s face it: HR can sabotage you in a heartbeat. They are good allies to have.)
Top three challenges are no surprise: reducing turnover, employee engagement, and succession planning. What’s new: that turnover is now more important than the other two. The reason why: demand is outstripping supply for the best of the best, so formerly cautious employees are jumping ship.
Another hint: check out the list comparing priorities on page 5. Very interesting to see what’s slipping from just two years ago. The two biggest drops are culture and performance management. While still at the top, employee engagement dropped by eight points. So if you are getting mild interest but no budget, that could be why.
Bottom line: working with future leaders has a bright future. Ask yourself: how can my brilliance help identify and support the high-potentials? There’s gold in that line item…
