Everyone has great stories from satisfied clients. The challenge is getting your case studies or client stories to stand out in a sea of happy endings. Here are two of my favorite strategies for to do that.

• Have a great plot twist. What was the turning point or great lesson learned? Every situation has a messy middle, so folks want to know that the struggle was worth it. The key message here: I provided something the client either didn’t have or didn’t know they needed. And it made all the difference.

• Show specific results. The more numbers, the better. And if you prevented disaster, note the impact the disaster could’ve created. Too many stories focus on the intangible. The point you want to prove: You will get concrete benefits from our work.

In crowded markets, social proof is needed but ubiquitous. Great results don’t stand out by themselves.
