How to Give Your Thought Leadership a Boost
If you’re looking to give your thought leadership a boost, take a look at a recent campaign by marketing agency Interbrand.
Rather than publishing reports that read the tea leaves, Interbrand chose to share the spotlight with other companies that are doing well. This tactic boosts thought leadership for Interbrand in two ways:
• Leverages other companies’ stature: The companies in Interbrand’s report are already popular, making the agency’s color commentary about them appear relevant. By promoting innovative companies, Interbrand looks like a cutting-edge firm, too. Associating your company with innovative firms is an effective way to boost your prominence.
• Gives them claim to the decider role: Interbrand uses this list to identify trends in global branding. Then it leverages that to promote language change. In this example, “categories” becomes “arenas.” By linking lists to trends, the agency positions itself as one who decides what’s innovative.
Listen: You Can Decide Who’s Hot and Who’s Not
Thought leadership is much more than promoting an idea or mindset. Trend reports with lists like Breakthrough Brands can be a good vehicle to display your prominence. They can even pave the way to handier, on-the-ground guides we all do.
