This Fast Company article highlights a new app by a health information website, and it’s a great example of how to increase your influence in a handy way. Look past the subject (vaccinations) and the app format. There are two things you can copy:

• Use a small door. In this case, the app helps with a hot-button issue: conversations about vaccinations. The specificity here doesn’t limit the website’s brand. Folks know that Verywell covers many healthcare topics. The strategy is to help in a small way to drive traffic to a bigger platform. Ask yourself: Is there a hot-button issue that I can provide practical help?

• Extend the experience. In this case, a copy of the discussion and guides based on the options chosen put the app in the “beyond handy” category. In this interactive world, one-size-fits-all guides can look passe. If you really want to up your game, look at how your community can personalize their journey.
