How to Run a Modern PR Campaign
Thanks to content marketing and the digital landscape, today’s PR (public relations) campaigns include strategies and tactics far beyond what many are accustomed to. As a recent article in Entrepreneur points out, modern PR campaigns have “moved from the traditional TV and newspapers media coverage to a much more dynamic environment.”
2 Key Strategies for Modern PR Campaigns
The article, written by marketer and media strategist Omri Hurwitz, includes two key recommendations that apply to small and large business alike. Here are the two biggest points you need to pay attention to when running a PR campaign:
• Quantity matters. In the good ol’ days, having a prominent media outlet interview you gave you an uptick in momentum and attention. Not anymore. Now the PR beast must be constantly fed. The good news: media coverage doesn’t always have to be from the bigger outlets. When multiple media outlets feature you, the totality looks like you’re a rocket ready to take off. And folks love to jump on that bandwagon.
• Don’t hold back. A lot of people are afraid of “constantly” bragging. Don’t worry about saturating your marketplace. It’s OK to share good news early and often. As the author writes, “You need to constantly be publishing and sharing things in order to stand out and cut through the noise.” This advice also applies to pay-to-play efforts such as LinkedIn ads.
