One of the biggest bombshells at the TEDWomen event last month was pro-choice attorney Kathryn Kolbert’s prediction that the Roe v. Wade decision governing abortion in the United States will be dead within a year.
Verbal jaw-droppers like Kolbert’s can be a powerful way to stand out. Here are two ways bold predictions are effective:
• They get attention fast. Folks gasped as she made that statement. And the revelation jump-started a lot of conversations at the break. This tactic works great when your speech is one of many and you need to attract attention within a crowded agenda.
