How to Tell Your Secrets – and Stand Out from the Crowd
One way to stand out from the competition is to show that you know where the bodies are buried. Being the insider telling behind-the-scene secrets not only drives intrigue, but it also conveys that you have more to share.
This Fast Company article is a great example of this strategy. I love the topic, but let’s drill down. What information does the article give that conveys the insider perspective?
• Feelings behind the actions: The article starts off strong with a great reason for why overreactions happen. When folks can understand the “why” behind the dynamic, they feel more in control over the situation. Explaining the emotions involved adds a lot of value to our framing.
• Addressing the root cause: One of my favorite things about this article is how it shows the ideas that address the root cause, the feelings behind the reaction. Solutions that focus on what’s really going on show bravery.
