Look For Disruption
The best place to get advanced heads up on what’s next? Check out a system that is failing and everyone knows it. Inside that failure is: 1) the realization that the status quo isn’t working; and, 2) the open space that makes room for the never-done-before.
A great example is this Fast Company article on disruptive trends in education. We’ve all heard about the skills gap, and how our current K-12 education system isn’t preparing our kids for today’s workforce. This article reports some really innovative solutions out there.
Now take this article and substitute “K-12” with “adult learning” and you will see what I believe could be next in corporate training. Think about it: could “optimized learning” work in our environment? A version of it could.
Being cutting-edge isn’t always about doing something never done before. Innovation can take the seeds planted somewhere else and transplant them into a new environment. And isn’t that the role of thought leaders…to be just a few steps ahead of the rest of us?
Happy planting!
