Make Big Opportunities Come to You
Wow! Just, wow! That was my reaction after reading a Fast company profile about Reese Witherspoon. She is on fire!
Sure, a lot of female celebrities have launched production companies. And yes, there’s a lot of effort to create films that have strong female leads. So, how does Reese stand out in a worthy cause with so many other prominent celebrities? What makes her different?
According to this article, it’s the reach. Instead of building a great a production company, she’s building a brand (and a following) first and then putting that platform into a lot of places, including films.
Key quote: “Witherspoon learned that she could personally build audiences for movies long before they were released.”
Big difference.
Listen: How to build a following that creates big deals
A lot of us focus on the outlet and position our perspective to fit that environment. Instead, let’s pull a Reese move and ask ourselves: How can I build an audience for my perspective that could impact the environment around me?
The big lesson here: When you come with your tribe, you change the power dynamic. You’re the one in the driver’s seat, not the other side. And that means you can ask for anything you want.
