Measure Your Life
Tomorrow is my birthday and being the diva I am, the party will start early and end late. I will continue my traditional spa day at my favorite place. Happy hours, pool time and shopping trips are also on the agenda this weekend.
In between all the family, friends, and fun, I want to look forward and ask: what does “happy” look like? Now that I am blessed to have everything I need, what do I want to create next? What I’m learning: what makes me happy is a moving target.
According to this strategy+business article, Clayton Christensen was surprised when his students asked, “If I keep doing what I’m doing right now as an individual, what will happen to me in 20 years? Will I become the kind of person that I want to become?” These questions reframed his research. These questions can reframe our lives.
His book How Will You Measure Your Life? is required reading this weekend. And I bet by the end I will have different measurements to apply. Here’s to living a life of our own choosing…
