Meeting Trends That Impact Speakers
Just when you thought it was safe … trends reports are coming in hot. Included among them – an IBTM report on international meetings. What I like about the report: the mix of big picture thinking and specific industry categories. It has an interesting mix of good news and heads-up information.
Pay close attention to the industry dynamics section. Not only can you see the kinds of events that get priority, but you also learn what type of experience buyers want to create. Example: Banking and finance acknowledge uncertainty, but they industry is now more upbeat. They’re now moving to chart their destiny. Does this sound like a conference theme or what?!
Listen: How to use trends in sales conversations
You should also pay attention to the impact of competition among events. Between new demands due to digital formats and the fact that corporate funding no longer a given, association meetings are headed for major shake-ups. Example: Corporate meetings take a page from industry associations and create “community gatherings” of many voices. This structure will change how speakers interact with the audience.
Not only can you use this information to position yourself, but you can also use it in sales conversations. (And, yes, I rant about the latter. Check out the podcast.)
