New Business Model?
Heads up: there is a new buzzword for what we do. John Butman has coined “idea entrepreneur” as the hot new career for his book Breaking Out: How to Build Influence in a World of Competing Ideas with Harvard Business Review Press.
Don’t laugh. Major media — Forbes.com, Bloomberg — is treating this as a new idea. It makes sense: it’s new to them. And Butman does a great job explaining how to launch a big idea. This book will do well for his business Idea Platforms Inc.
Prediction: How that this process has been codified, watch for even more idea makers on the scene. Most of these folks will build lifestyle businesses, but many will be formidable competitors. This will make market strategy and differentiation even more critical for those of us who want top dollar in high-end markets. Proceed accordingly.
