One Thing That Will Skyrocket Your Influence
Have you ever read something and thought to yourself, “Dang, how did I get so old?” Yeah, that just happened when I read this Fast Company article about Instagram influencers.
Let’s move past the point of two toddlers making bank. (I feel old right now.) This is a great example of how influence is monetized. Key quote: “Of Instagram’s 800 million users, as of September 2017, 80% of them follow a business, and the company reports that more than 60% of these people say they discover new products on Instagram.” Also known as lead generation.
So, we know the ROI of social media influence. But the article made a much more critical point: Expertise isn’t everything. Toddlers don’t know much, but they are “cute.” Watching them be cute drives reach and engagement.
To influence in this space, you have to have something more: affinity. And that is very subjective, which makes affinity harder to create.
