Prepare for the Upcoming Content Marketing War
I married for tech support, so lists of handy tools in this Search Engine Journal article get priority attention.
Let’s move past the techie stuff, though, and pay attention to these two content-marketing trends:
• If you think content clutter is bad now, just wait. This article projects that by 2020 (not that far away!), 44 zettabytes of data will be produced. Think 8.48 trillion songs. Every. Day. This heads-up from the article: “The challenge to break through the clutter will become exponentially more difficult as time passes.” Key word here: exponentially. So think about how you’re going to get attention while everyone is talking at the same time.

• 2019 buzzword for me: user intent. The days of planting keywords on a landing page are over. And directories now take priority over our one-off blog posts. To compete, let’s play that TV gameshow Jeopardy. Ask yourself: What is the question my content answers? And make sure it’s a question your buyers really ask.
The impact here cannot be overstated. Standing out is no longer a luxury. It’s the #1 thing you must do to survive the upcoming content marketing onslaught. Take this strategic endeavor seriously.
