Social Media Survival Guide: 2 Types of Content You Need to Master
The changes we’ve seen on social media platforms aren’t going away anytime soon. According to recent reports, referral traffic from Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) continues to decline.
At the same time, short-form video is having a moment. Those videos now receive over 200 billion views a day across Facebook and Instagram.
These disruptions require immediate attention. You can no longer expect to post links to your website or blog on social platforms (not even as a comment on a post) and expect to receive traffic. You need to be creative and create content that the platforms favor.
2 Types of Content to Post on Social Media
Here are two types of content that get high engagement:
• Photo carousels: People use photo carousels as clickbait, but thought leaders can also use them to promote their content. They’re easy to create using a tool like Canva, and they receive much more engagement. Social media users love visual content, so take advantage of that.
• Short-form videos: Use short-form videos to showcase your brand voice and add humor to the mix. If done right, you’ll get lots of shares. Save your longer explainer videos for your website or YouTube channel.
The companies running the social media platforms have changed the rules of the game. If you want to have a presence on them, you must adjust your strategy and expectations.
