Soft Skills Training Is In Demand, Workplace Learning Study Shows
For those who work with organizations, take a look at a study about workplace learning that LinkedIn recently conducted. Learning and development “is more important today than ever before,” the report says, and soft skills are especially in demand.
Keep in mind that survey responses are from the folks on the ground – learning and development professionals, learners, and managers. That being said, here are two findings you need to pay attention to:
• Executive engagement is a priority. Yep, this study addresses getting C-suite executives to champion the effort. Think about the converse, though: Recommendations from executives carry a lot of weight. This is good news for coaches and other advisors who have their ear.
• Soft skills rule. The most fascinating finding was not only the skills people need moving forward, but also the skills that are considered low priority. Sure, leadership skills are still in high demand at 57%. Check out creative problem solving and communication skills—at 42% and 40%, respectively. Skills low in priority include technology skills: mobile and cloud computing, along with coding.
