The Power of ‘Megaphones’: Lessons from COVID Deniers
With COVID-19 continuing to rage across the globe, it’s hard to imagine folks still think the virus is a hoax. But many do. To help us understand this, Fast Company published an article that explains why denial is such a powerful force and what we can do about deniers.
The article reminds us of something thought leaders have long known: If folks we admire and trust bring us new evidence, we’re more willing to give that information a fair hearing. The big question the article asks: How can we scale this dynamic?
We should ask ourselves that question, as well. How do we get the word out to more people on a bigger scale? What or who are our megaphones? Who admires us and is willing to tell others? Where can we show up and have instant credibility?

Like personal issues such as COVID, buying decisions are based on the individual’s social realities. We can influence and even create a new social reality that can be used to affirm or deny. And the often-overlooked way we do that is deciding where we show up and who introduces us. Start looking for some megaphones to get your message out there.
