Well, you can.
Some thought leaders have used the expose’ — usually a hard-hitting, behind-the-scenes book — to stand out in a sea of analysis and opinions.
Revealing big secrets can position you for next-level prominence in two ways:
• It helps you stay in the spotlight longer. Any secret with big impact will get attention fast. The biggest advantage, though, is from the responses. These conversations can extend the news cycle and, therefore, the spotlight on you.
• It positions you as a radical truth teller. Those who are willing to share secrets — and risk relationships and reputation — are seen as truth tellers who can be trusted. For folks who want to be seen as someone who pulls no punches, the expose’ can be a great showcase.
