The Pursuit of Happiness: Promise vs. guarantee
I work with a wide variety of people—many nationalities, ethnicities and backgrounds. I’ve worked with natural U.S. citizens, as well as those who arrived here with a dream and became citizens.
What I love about working with immigrants: They understand the power of our freedom because they know what it’s like not to be free. They do not expect guarantees. For them, the opportunity is enough.
Plus, they take full advantage of the situation with a heavy dose of hustle. It makes me wonder: How many times do I dilly-dally around instead of getting out there and living my best life? Alas, guilty as charged.
As we celebrate our country’s independence, let’s remember that we are only promised the pursuit of happiness. There’s no guarantee. And that’s OK because we don’t need one.
