The Real Reason Why That New Marketing ‘Trend’ Didn’t Work
With all that disruption out there, it’s hard to keep up on the latest “trends” that market your brilliance. It’s even harder to figure out which idea works best for you.
One of the most common scenarios is what I call “jumping on the bandwagon.” What happens: You hear about a great idea that makes huge sales for many of your colleagues. People start to talk about this “next big thing,” and you start to feel left out and think, “Well, it worked for them; let’s give it a try.”
So, you hire the same folks they did, and … it bombs. Why didn’t this cool idea work for you when it works for everyone else?
Listen: 2 Questions to Ask Before You Jump In
I asked this question to a bleeding-edge tactician, and here’s her answer: Too many folks implement a good idea in a vacuum. We’ll take one method (for example: Facebook ads) and invest our whole marketing budget in it. But without the surrounding system to support that outreach, such as landing pages and automated campaigns, it won’t work.
The big aha: Success has many moving parts.
