Heads up: There’s a new sheriff in the meetings space. According to this Meetings and Conventions article, the chief marketing officer (CMO) will take a leading role in corporate meetings and events. It makes sense – between social media and customer experience, someone’s gotta control the brand.
People, this is good news. CMOs come with a hefty budget. (And dealing with procurement is not fun.) But what does this mean for speakers? One word: messaging. These buyers look at meetings with the brand in mind. So, they will focus on how our brand and messages address their strategic focus.

Also look for a bigger vision and ideas coming from these folks. Be prepared to talk shop and be specific on how your involvement will support their brand.
