Three New Ways Social Media Changes Your Marketing
Yes, we thought leaders were all over social media in 2015. But what is in store for this year? A recent Fast Company article, 5 Trends That Will Change How Companies Use Social Media in 2016, highlights corporate America’s plans for social media. Why we care: these initiatives will change how we market our thought leadership, too.
Pay attention to these three trends:
1. The rise of internal networks. The flood of emails has made internal networks a priority, and thanks to Slack, a messaging app for teams, these platforms have hit their stride. Why this matters: if corporate buyers check their email less often, what happens to our email marketing efforts? And if the action is in the closed internal systems, how do we distribute our content there? Whoever answers these questions is golden.
2. Video changes everything. Yes, we’ve used video on our websites. Now it’s about to get serious. Prediction: explainer videos will shrink in comparison to story-with-a-point versions. Now is the time to take your message and “story-ize” it.

3. Third-party branding. Like us, companies have a hard time cutting through the noisy market. One solution: turn your employees into “brand ambassadors.” Prediction: third-party endorsements will be the game to play this year. Now is the time to engage your advocates.
