Two Kinds of Authors
Have you ever felt that idea — a bigger perspective burning in your heart? If so, that’s a clue it might be time to write that killer book. Which begs a bigger question: Do you really have to write it?
This question was explored among a group of marketing gurus. The consensus: There’s a difference between authors and writers. The former has great ideas and a construct that need to get out there; the latter puts those ideas on paper.
Could one person have both roles? Sure, but not necessarily. Here’s why: Authors and writers have two separate skill sets. What it takes to frame an idea compared to what is required to build a book are very different. It’s like saying every architect has to build every house they design.
Listen: Do this instead of giving away your book
So, the next time you feel that stirring in your heart, ask yourself, “What’s my role here? Am I the architect, the builder, or both?” The answer could build the bridge between a great idea and an even greater book.
