What Gets Shared
A big question on everyone’s mind: how can I get my social media content shared? Can my brilliance go viral? Line up five experts here and you will get 15 different opinions. For low-tech, low social folks like me, it’s a confusing mystery.
This article has some interesting research with findings that go against conventional wisdom. My favorite part: I can implement their suggestions. Me, the one who married for tech support. (OK, I can do it with Vicky Likens helping. You get my point.) Ask yourself: how many recommendations do we make that our community can just pick up and do? This article is a great example of balancing compelling ideas with ease of use. Brilliant.
And finally, look past the findings. What got my attention is what the authors did to come up with their recommendations: analyzed share counts of 100 million articles. Wow. Sounds like a lot of work doesn’t it? And because of that, wouldn’t you believe these findings more than from someone who didn’t go to this trouble? I would.
So maybe we can follow their lead and do two things: make sure our recommendations are doable and share how we got these ideas in the first place. This is on my to-do list for sure.
