What Soft Skills Training Looks Like Today
Are soft skills back in Corporate America? Yep and in full force, according to Olga Nefedova in a recent round-up report by consulting giant McKenzie & Company.
The author makes a great point about impact and execution excellence. That said, the pandemic created new challenges for those who provide soft skills training.
2 Challenges for Trainers
• Low-cost providers. Wherever there’s a budget there is competition. And the biggest competitors are internal to the organization. Buyers believe information is ubiquitous. Trainers, then, must show how they are different. (And no, customizing won’t cut it.)
• Format. Curriculum development has evolved from online to ongoing. Peer-to-peer training and gaming are the hot formats now. Videos are embedded and considered standard. Create your content accordingly.
Listen: How to Compete with Companies’ Internal Resources
I agree with Olga: The days of checking the box are over. Impact is the game now, so you need to structure and position your offerings accordingly.
