What You Share on Social Media Says a Lot About You
The articles you share on social media say a lot about who you are and what you value. I have noticed, however, that this approach leaves opportunities behind if you don’t use it strategically.
Curating articles like this can go awry when you just throw content that you agree with up on your social media page. Instead get deliberate about how to use those articles to showcase your value to potential buyers.
2 Ways to Use Social Media to Showcase Your Value
Two of my favorite tactics for using articles to showcase my value:
1. Highlight the inside scoop. Take a high-profile event and give an insider’s perspective. You have wide berth here: Focus on hidden agendas, the players, etc. But choose articles that highlight your behind-the-scenes perspective. Ask yourself: “What’s going on here beneath the surface that will highlight the results I get for my clients?”

2. Link the article to a bigger issue. This can take on a trends angle or a warning sign. The key here is to use the content as a springboard. Example: A well-known brand’s bankruptcy can be a heads-up about customer shifts. This is a great way to showcase any advisory or coaching talents. Before choosing that article, ask yourself: “What is the link between this and the outcomes I produce for clients?”
The curation strategy works because you take widespread attention and use it to your advantage. But sharing content on social media is not enough. You have to link what is going on to your value. When you do, potential buyers not only know that you’re talented but also what you can do for them.
