When You Love Your Work, There’s No Limit
We drove back home from New England over the Labor Day weekend, so no cookouts for us. Instead, I had plenty of “windshield time” to ponder what work looked like last year. Yep, it was different.
The pandemic showed me how much love hides behind our labor. A lot of people who used to have jobs gave away their gifts just because they were needed. Musicians didn’t need a stage; they played on their balcony. Farmers donated their harvest to food pantries instead of selling to restaurants, whose patronage had plummeted. And many thought leaders I know made free videos to help those who needed tools and encouragement.
Not getting paid didn’t stop a lot of us. We worked because we had the time and talent to give, and our gifts were needed. We worked to help each other during a scary financial time.
Money is necessary, but when times are tough, most of us will still share our talent and help others. Love takes over and keeps us going. May you love your work so much that you will freely give it to the world no matter what.
