Your Whisper Is As Effective As a Roar
In a crazy-crowded marketplace where everyone has an opinion, it’s tempting to shout louder than everyone else. As diversity thought leader James O. Rodgers shows on LinkedIn, however, a whisper can be just as effective as a roar.
To launch his new book Diversity Training That Generates Real Change, Rodgers didn’t go for the big media splash. Instead, he went stealth with a series of very simple posts on LinkedIn. His message strategy: calm voice with out-of-the-box findings. This killer juxtaposition is the key to an effective whisper campaign.

Several of Rodgers’ LinkedIn posts are deceptively simple: one quote that makes us stop and think. No dramatic headline, no inflammatory language, no snark. This tactic not only starts the conversation, but it also creates an opening to change opinions.
It’s tempting to set social media on blast with an inflammatory post. Instead, have enough faith in your thinking to calm down and let people in. Sometimes a whisper is more effective than a megaphone
