Heads-up: A new generation of digital natives is coming into the workforce and is about to change the game. Accordingly to recent analysis on Generation Z from consulting giant McKinsey, it looks like we’re in for a ride with this bunch.
Yes, the focus of the article is on the impact to organizations. But let’s drill down on two areas that will impact thought leadership and the B2B professional service marketplace:
• Sales. These folks are used to collecting and cross-referencing many sources of information. They will do that for the buyers and will continue this approach when they become buyers. Result: B2B folks who show up “everywhere” will have the inside edge. It’s time to broaden our reach.

• Corporate training trends. Think learning is blended now? Just wait. These folks demand “access” with multiple channels for ongoing assistance: videos, chats, and digital “office hours”—to name a few things. Prediction: If you provide training, you’re going to need embedded subject matter experts. That means partnering with folks who can leverage our availability.
These changes are already underway. We have fair warning, so the ball is in our court. Questions to ask now: How are we going to take advantage of what’s on the horizon? What changes do we have to make now?
